The End

26 May 2010 | Filed Under Tales from the Author's Desk

Don’t worry – this post is spoiler free!

Beginnings are important, but endings are crucial. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed in an ending of a book, movie, or television series.

Lost did not disappoint.

One of my fiction writing professors used to tell us: the ending should be surprising, but inevitable. That was Lost through and through. We always knew it would come down to Jack; but we couldn’t have guessed how he managed it, or what happened after.

Lost also managed to come full circle in their storytelling. There were many references to season one, especially to the pilot, emphasizing the inevitability of it all.

And we stop pretty much where we started six years ago. In the end, the final image brings us full circle, a neat and tidy ending with many questions left unanswered.

Just as we’d expect for a show as surprising and question-raising as Lost.

Bravo, Lost. Congrats on a great six-year run. See you in another life, Brotha.

Ah! I didn’t know you are a LOST fan as well!
I agree, the ending as great (Though I had to watch it twice in order for me to get and like it). Haha.

Whoa! Gotag! Long time no “see”!

I didn’t know you were a Lost fan either. Favorite character? (all of mine died…)

Yes, it is I! And you need to come back to AP so I can stop stalking old members. :P
All of mine but Miles and Frank. I pretty much loved the freighter science team the most (With Faraday as my all-time favourite!). Haha.

you know, technically they did…Charlie was my all-time favorite. Then I liked Sun and Jin. Then Daniel. Then the smoke monster. *sigh* Just can’t pick em! ;)
Nah, life’s too busy to muddle around on AP. You have no choice but to stalk. Who else has left? P.S. David comments here sometimes.

A lot of people, but also a lot of them stayed. David still visits AP very often. At the moment, I’m emailing both EG and Faery (Both have left AP, I think before you did). I think only David, SOTS, and I are the only original AP family members left at AP. But there are some great new regular members, so AP is still pretty populated.

And please, no one is ever too busy for a small visit to AP. :P
