What?

19 April 2010 | Filed Under Tales from the Author's Desk

You know how old people will go into a room and forget why they were going there in the first place?

That happens to me all the time.

And it’s not just rooms. I forget what I’m going to write. For example, today’s post. I was going to link to something, and have a sentence of commentary, and it was going to be brilliant and insightful…

But I don’t remember what any of it was.

I have an idea for a scene in Too Many Princesses and by the time I get the chance to sit down at my computer? Blank. Blankity blank blank blank.

As if it’s not hard enough to write already.

Please tell me you guys have this problem too!

I totally have this SAME exact problem. I will be typing a paragraph, right? And then I’ll have a brilliant idea for what to write in the next paragraph. I finish this one and pause… I have ALREADY forgotten what I had just thought of! I also do the thing where I’m insanely looking everywhere for something – and then realize it’s in my hand. Yep. I’m going to be one crazy old lady.

Good to know I’m not alone! Hooray for short-attention-spanned writers! I don’t look for what’s in my hand, but I do look for something where I left it, don’t see it, and promptly search the rest of the house, only to realize much later that it actually was where I left it.

Hi, I'm Jenn, new grad student and old YA fantasy writer. I've long dreamed of being a novelist, and I bet you have too. I hope you find my blog helpful, inspiring, and maybe just a little bit fun. (But not too much fun. Writing is serious business, you know.)
